Pressure and Wind

Ever wondered why the wind blows? Winds are the result of pressure differences. We hear about barometric pressure during the nightly weather forecast, but a large majority of us really don’t care about anything other than whether it’s hot or cold out and if it’s sunny or rainy.

But wind and changes in pressure play a big role in those two weather variables. And before we get into the real nitty-gritty of weather, it’s necessary to understand how wind works because wind is the motor of the atmosphere.
